I am passionate about helping people and I strive to ensure that my clients understand the legal process and are involved in their matter as much as they choose to be.  I focus my practice exclusively in domestic relations matters, with experience in high-conflict divorce litigation involving complex financial issues and dissipation of assets, as well as contested custody and visitation matters.

Prior to joining McIlveen Family Law, I was practicing family law in Massachusetts for just under seven years, and through law school, I interned with the Children’s Law Center of Connecticut and Massachusetts where I specialized in child welfare and Special Education matters on behalf of children and families.   I also participated in the Asylum and Human Rights clinic where I successfully fought to gain asylum for a Pakistani woman who had been persecuted because of her religion in Pakistan.  Prior to law school, I was a legal assistant at the global law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom LLP, where I assisted in complex litigation matters dealing with insider trading, back-dating stock options, and multi-million dollar corporations.

In Massachusetts, I was a volunteer attorney with the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project of the Boston Bar Association where I represented indigent clients in divorces and guardianship matters and frequently acted as Lawyer of the Day in multiple counties.  In addition, I became a certified Conciliator, Guardian ad Litem, and I am a member of the American Academy of Certified Financial Litigators.  I look forward to continuing my service here in North Carolina!

I was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in November, 2011, the New York bar in January, 2012, and the North Carolina bar in June, 2018.  I earned my law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2011.  I have been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2016, 2017, and 2018, as well as a Top Woman Attorney in 2017 and 2018.  I completed my undergraduate degree at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Literature – Spanish.  In undergrad, I spent a year studying abroad in Leon, Spain, and in law school, I spent a semester studying abroad in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Outside of work, I love to travel and I take every opportunity to do so.  I love learning about different cultures and my goal is to visit a new country every year! I love to be outdoors and stay active and I spend at least some time most weekends hiking, camping, or rock climbing and I am an avid triathlete, having competed in triathlons since 2008.  I can’t wait to tackle an iron man distance triathlon!  Last, but most certainly not least, my family is of utmost importance to me and I love spending as much time as I can with my parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews.
